Tips: How to make a Wine and Cheese Gift Basket without the Wine Store Cost

We have had many questions about what elements make a nice wine and cheese gift basket. You can purchase the items separately and create a wonderful wine basket for the wine lover in your life. Many wine stores have gift baskets available, particularly during the holiday season, but sometimes it is difficult to find a basket with the wines and cheeses we are looking for. So, how do we decide?

Wine and Cheese Gift Basket
  • First, we should decide the elements of our wine and cheese basket. Planning is always a good first step. Planning and research can be fun and inclusive. When I plan to provide creative wine gifts, I will enlist a few friends. Sometimes we will purchase the materials together and save an additional buck.
    • First we must have a budget. The research will soon tell us what we have to focus on during the planning stage.
  • Second on our list are the items to be purchased.
      • Basket
      • Crackers
      • Cheeses
      • Wines
      • Decorations
      • Other items (chocolate etc.)

  • Third we have to decide what wines pair with which cheeses, keeping in mind, the wine preferences of our recipients, or we might have favorites of our own we wish to intoduce them to.
  • Fourth, we should find locations to purchase the materials.
  • Fifth, when we have a final list of the items and the cost, we should see if there are prepackaged baskets of the quality we are seeking, at a similar price.
  • When we are finally satified with our choices, we can find small features to add to the basket such as dark chocolate for Cabs.
