Wise Wine Purchases
- Ask - Don't be afraid to ask the store clerk what they suggest or to describe what you like and what you don't like. It is your wine.
- Larger stores will often have employees trained in wine sales.
- Who Dares Wins - Take a chance on wines you have never seen. You will never know unless you try. They are often nice wine purchases
- Less Isn't More - When you are trying a new wine variety, don't short change yourself by purchasing a cheap example. You will be disappointed. Spend a few extra dollars and remember, this is your first of that variety so keep trying. All wines are different.
- Try before you buy - In many wine stores, they offer wine tastings on certain days. It is a great chance to try before you buy.
- Avoid safe choices - Many people are stuck. They will only purchase a rated wine by an expert, or a name brand that is a wine from a large producer. Many of the best wines come from smaller vineyards that you won't find in a grocery store or a pharmacy.
- New wines to the store - Better wines at better prices are often the case. These introductory wines are often very nice wines with a notable savings. Particularly in the beginning.
- Many wine stores have professional ratings, signifying what the wine critics think. Although I am not a huge fan of the critics opinions, they can be a portion of your buying strategy.
- Always keep tasting notes and even better, use our free wine cellar and tasting room to reflect on what you enjoyed from a wine. Research helps, but trust YOUR palate.
